So whenever I leave my parent's house, my mom would give me food to take; a nice gesture, but she does it suffocating kind of way. -- lovingly, I say she puts the mother in smother. So to get a little respect for my culinary skillz... I whipped up two dishes Friday night before going to my parent's house for the weekend.
> Corn beef hash bathed in coconut milk for that cream texture with bean curry sauce.
> Side dish of stir fry vegie: shredded lettuce and red onions .

Candy and costumes. Commercialism had taken over Christmas and Thanksgiving. Has it also taken over Halloween? Typically this time of year, we get another release of Lion's Gate's SAW movies. More than the usual number of teens stops by the local Hot Topic; for an excuse to dress slutty. Little masked hobos going around preying on people's sympathy to satisfy their addiction to confections.

Have we lost the true spirit of Halloween; that is worshipping all that is evil: Satan, the devil, the IRS, Andy Dick and FOX news?

Did these last year, for a while I thought I had lost this sketchbook. Turned out, it was stored in my brother's closet under some folded bedsheets. The sketch book was an expensive buy at Hull's, an art store at downtown. Many pages are still blank, as I'm hoping for some inspiration.

I saw Capitalism a love story this weekend. It was good and did not disappoint. There are some funny moments. But I would not bill this as a comedy. Moore point out some very interesting things, which I won't fully disclose for those who haven't seen it yet. The premise is pro union and anti-wall street. Some of the targets hit close to home me. Including my former employer as well as my home state: Connecticut: ... senator Chris Dodd make us CTers all look bad.

It's been a little over a year since I left my former company. I can tell you from first hand experience that the fact about top 1% executive pay having 95% wealth is true. The top 5% held 99% of combined pay of all the employees in the company. Few months back, the media busted on companies, who have received bail out money (TARP) and paying lavish bonuses. Recently upon talking with my former co-workers, they reveal that it's still business as usual. The big bonuses are classified under merit (salary increase), and other ways are used so their full pay aren't disclosed to the shareholders.

As with F911 and Sicko, I don't agree with everything (or to the degree) of what Moore's prescribing but the movie is well done and thought provoking.

Big Expo (2009)

Went to the Big E today. Can't honestly call myself a New Englander unless I went to one of these. I had planned on going in the past two years. Never gotten around to it. Saw a circus show, avoided bad food and snapped some pics.

Seal performance (I was far away). The seal threw frisbee and finished the show dancing with the trainers.

Booths try to sell you stuff. The Power STEP is interesting; user stands on the machine, and it vibrates and jiggls your behind. People who tried it seemed to like it.

First pic is of a lady hammering the nail. Shame she got a 73; 100 will get you a prize.

Bought this hand carved wooden souvenir.

(2) Inglorious Bastards - Long, but good
(3) Jennifer's Body - ...err... I was bored this Saturday. (..and plz don't think less of me. )

It's that time of year... enrolling in medical insurance. I've opted out last year, the saving counter balanced fixing my car, getting a new laptop (my old 5 yr sony croaked) and other purchases. It certainly does help.

I'm deciding between another year of opting medical insurance.... save about $1k-1.5k. Still have dental & vision.

vs.

1 year subscription Scientific American (monthly)
1 year subscription Scientific Mind (bi-monthly)
NBA internet package, with Yao and T-mac injured, most of Rockets games won't be broadcasted on basic cable.
Bought a 2nd PS3 (slim) - one for my apartment
