Where:
walking in downtown
I was walking back to work from lunch. In front of me, parks a channel 3 news van. There was a guy loading camera equipment in the trunk. I saw a petite girl sitting in the passenger seat, I thought it might've been one of those take-your-daughter-to-work Day. I didn't give a second thought and proceeded my way. As I walked passed the van, the girl opened her car window and wanted to talk to me. I thought she might be lost and was asking for directions. She wasn't a girl but a small stature woman, --probably older than I. Strikingly beautiful, in a business suit, with makeup and a perfect coiffure.
She asked me: "Do you like Madonna?"

2004
Where:
Near a park
This old Chinese gentleman was practicing calligraphy on the side of the street. His brush was a mop, his ink; some water from a bucket, and his canvas; the cement floor on which he stood. It was a treat to watch him work. He painted these beautiful characters. However, the water strokes evaporates within seconds under the steamy sun. At first, I thought: "what a shame, they fade so quickly". The old man shoots me a practice-makes-perfect grin, then begins once more. As easily as one may admire his results, perhaps it is his process that deserves the admiration.
